Ellen Carlson Obituary

Ellen M. Carlson, age 88 and a 59 year Woodland Park resident, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2005 at her home in Woodland Park.  She was born August 4, 1916 in Bovina, Colorado to Eldridge Mayo and Ida Ellen (Eberle) Rarick. On June 21, 1942, she married Donald R. Carlson in Yuma, Arizona.  To this union, four children were born: D.R., Jane Ann, Eldrige, and Guy Richard.  She was a member of the Woodland Park V.F.W. and the Woodland Park Community Church. She is survived by two sons: D.R. Carlson, Elko, Nevada and Eldrige Carlson, Woodland Park, Colorado; one daughter, Jane Ann Daughtry, Virginia Beach, Virginia; four grandchildren: Roger, Jolene, Peter and David; two great-grandchildren: Shelby and Mallory; one sister, Lois Bean, Beloit, Kansas; and one brother, Charles Rarick, Arriba, Colorado. She was preceded in death by one son, Guy Richard Carlson; two grandsons: Joel and Will Daughtry; parents; husband; and infant sister, Mary; infant brother, Newell; and brother, John Rarick. Memorial contributions may be made to Prospect Home Care Hospice, PO Box 6278, Woodland Park, CO  80866. A funeral service w ill be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 2005 at Woodland Park Community Church, 700 Valley View Drive, Woodland Park, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ellen was our babysitter when I was younger. She taught me and my brothers how to make popcorn balls and knit drink coasters. She was a wonderful woman and will be missed dearly.
