Ellen Price Obituary

Ellen (Harris) Price passed away on November 3, 2014. She was a resident of Colorado Springs several times, retiring here 40 years ago. Ellen was born March 8, 1925 in Houston, Texas and was raised in Dallas with her parents, Y.T. and Bess Harris and sisters, Maureen and Jane. She is survived by her daughter Margo Price; Son-in-law Glenn Machos; and grandchildren Jeff and Lisa Machos.

She was preceded in death by her husband, USAF Major General James L. Price; son, James Larry Price; and daughter, Jean Anne (Glenn) Machos.

Ellen traveled and lived all over the world as an Air Force wife with her husband, children, and wonderful boxer dogs, Spike ad Sean. Ellen loved horses and dogs. In Ellen's youth she became a trick-rope-rider and calf roper in rodeos. She went on to be pre-med in college at the University of Texas, but left for a career as a flight attendant with Braniff Airlines traveling extensively throughout South America. She worked briefly as an assistant to an architect when she met and married her husband Jim. When her children were growing up they had three horses that traveled with them across the United States. In her retirement she was a Mary Kay representative. She loved antiquing and restoring antique furniture, making wool-hook rugs, needlepoint and shopping. Ellen had a wonderful sense of humor, quick wit and countless Southern sayings.

Ellen was very much loved and will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00pm with a Funeral Service following at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO.

Ellen's final resting place is Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.

Margo: I found this page while trying to find you. I'm sorry for your loss. I remember she was so nice to this little teeny bopper Everitt cheerleader.

Margo, so sorry about your mom. I have missed her so much over the last few years and always planned to stop by. Time just got away from me. I regret that so much.
From the time I met your mom I liked her. I enjoyed talking to her so much. I loved taking care of her. She was a blessing in my life.
Please stop by Out Patient Rehab at Penrose if you are in the area I would love to see you.

Dearest Margo, family, caregivers, I'm so sorry. My deepest condolences. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We lost an amazing friend. She was a mother, a grandmother, and an advisor. We will miss her cheerful smile, her gentle touch, and her charming wit. She was the greatest friend and a wonderful, beautiful woman that I've had the pleasure working for. May God's angels always watch over her. I will forever miss her. With love
