Eloise Simmons Obituary

Eloise Mildred L. Simmons, age 86, went to be with the Lord on June 20th 2016.Eloise was born on September 26, 1929, in Independence, Louisiana to Manuel and Elise M. Shaffett. Eloise retired from the Deaf and Blind School after 28 years of service. During this time, she also attended Alamosa State College and received a certificate for her job.



Eloise was an avid scrap booker and loved to read good books, she also enjoyed gospel and country music. Eloise was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. She was a life time member of Ladies Axillary for the VFW 4051 and also a life time member of the American Legion Post 5. In addition she was member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles 143 since 1977.



Eloise is preceded in passing by her 5 sisters, Irene Meliet, Yvonne Poore, Ethel Shaffett , Mary Shaffett and Sharon Shaffett, 3 brother, Marvin Shaffett, John Shaffett and Johnny Shaffett., 2 children Elaine Hosford and Wayne Granger and grandson, Wayne Hosford.



She is survived by 3 children, Ann (Frank)Spiecker of Laurence Harbor, NJ, Thomas (Deb) Granger of Lynn, MA., and Carol (Mike) Milton of Henderson , CO. as well 12 grandchildren, Frank Jr., (Georgette), Ritchie, Tammy ( Steve), Tina ( John), Tom Jr. (Lorene), Todd, Michelle, Brad (Mandy) and a special grandson Clifton. Also survived by 2 step grandchildren, Brooke (Scott), Brandon (Sunny) and 15 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with funeral service to follow at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home at 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, Co. 80910.

In lieu of flowers donation may be made in Eloise's name to either The Heart Fund or Rocky Mountain Cancer Center.

Eloise and I worked together at the Colo.School for the Deaf and the Blind. She married friend our friend Floyd Simmons,She met my husband Larry and came to our wedding. Eloise was a family member to us,She was invited to our Thanksgiving diners and would bring Cliff.We were always welcome d into her home, We would bring,Chicken Dinners and our children loved her, Eloise and I would Call each other at least once a month,,I am going to miss her very, very much. I LOVE YOU we would tell each other R.I. P my FRIEND..Tell Cliff that I am so sorry,and give him a hug for us .

Eloise was by far one of my favorite patients. I absolutely loved it when she came in for testing and enjoyed our conversations. I will miss her smile, her hugs and her talking about her beautiful roses and how much pride she took in having the most beautiful ones around. My prayers are with the family.
