November 10, 1926 ~ April 23, 2008. Jane Diehl, age 81, passed away April 23rd, 2008 in Colorado Springs. She was born in Philadelphia on 10 November 1926 to George and Lily Reitz. Jane married the Captain Arthur F. Diehl, Jr. on 8 October 1949, enjoying a memorable and happy Air Force life highlighted by moving to Colorado Springs in 1973. Jane's life was characterized by endless love of her family and a warm embrace of all those she met. Jane so enjoyed her childhood growing up in Sunbury, PA and her early adulthood in Philadelphia that she traveled there almost every summer. She cherished her volunteer work with the Red Cross, serving at every base they lived for over 50 years - serving with her friends at the Academy Hospital up to the day she passed away. She also loved her Cadets - her husband and herself were sponsors to countless Cadets, who continues to call, write or take her dinner when in the Springs. Jane could not love her family enough - each and every day enjoying her Grandchildren - Becky, Ryan, Justin his wife Valerie, Brandon and his wife Cassie, and Cameron. She was a special "Mom Mom" to them - who loved her so much. A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, on Monday 5, 2008, at the United States Air Force Academy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jane's memory to the U.S. Air Force Academy Association of Graduates.

I was saddened to read of Jane's passing. Jane sat 2 rows in front of me at the AFA Football games for more than 20 years. She always arrived early, ate her 2 hot dogs, and then we would talk. She was such an independent, strong and generous woman and I admired her greatly. She was very proud of all her family..... not boastful... but very, very proud. I shall truly miss seeing Jane this fall. My thoughts are with you.
