Ernest "Tony" Lance, Jr., 72, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on April 15, 2021.
Tony was born on September 27, 1948 in Rochester, New Hampshire to Ernest and Thelma (Ferkel) Lance.
After attending high school in Waterbury, Connecticut, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served twenty-two years including four tours in Vietnam. Among his awards, he earned a Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, a Vietnam Service Medal with nine Bronze Service Stars, and a Bronze Star.
During retirement, he enjoyed performing in cowboy and renaissance reenactments, landscaping, painting, cooking, and entertaining.
Tony is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, James and Richard.
He is survived by his daughters, Ann Marie and Lisa; his former wife, Carole; and stepchildren, James, Eugene, Steven, and Melvina; and many grandchildren. He also leaves siblings, Brian and Sherry; close cousins, Donna and Ben; and best friends, Izet and Emina, and Joe and Pranee.
A Funeral Service will be held in New Hampshire.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tony's memory may be made to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, Colorado Springs, Colorado, (hsppr.org/donate/).

The Buckley AFB military Retiree Activities Office (RAO) would like to offer our sincere condolences and our gratitude for SSG Lance's 22 years of distinguished service to our country in the Army. If you would like help with any matters related to casualty assistance, Defense Finance & Accounting Service, Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP), Veterans Affairs (VA), etc. you can contact our office on Buckley AFB at 720-847-6693. The RAO is staffed by volunteers, all military retirees themselves, and our sole purpose is to provide assistance to any military retirees and surviving spouses/family members with anything related to their military service and/or benefits, in particular during difficult times such as this. We are deeply sorry for your loss.
