Etta Kinslow Obituary

Etta E. Kinslow, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Pikes Peak Hospice Residence. She was an Army wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, great-grandmother and friend.

Etta Elizabeth Lessenberry was born on February 17, 1936 in Glasgow, Kentucky to the late James and Vassie (Nichols) Lessenberry. She met and later married Thomas F. Kinslow on May 4, 1954 and followed him into to Army life. They were together for 54 years before he died in 2007.

While in the Army, they had three children and many of adventures. They traveled all through the U.S. and Alaska before they settled in Colorado Springs.

She loved the mountains of Colorado, the flowers from her husband, Tom's gardens, country music, dancing and the Denver Broncos. She also enjoyed travel, dogs, reading, John Wayne, Charlie Pride.

She was a strong spirited woman who enjoyed life. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.



Etta was preceded in death by her husband; her brother, George Lessenberrry; and two grandsons, Tommy Kinslow and Douglas Chadwick, Jr.

She is survived by her children, Anne Kinslow, Frank (Pam) Kinslow and Debbie Chadwick; four grandchildren, Mindy (Tyler) Marmet, Theresa Chadwick-Gray, Samantha Chadwick and Janis (David) Kerwin; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation, 1:00PM-2:00PM, Sunday, May 31, 2015, The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado. A Prayer Service will follow at 2:00PM.

Private burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
