Eugene Jaqua Obituary

MSgt. Eugene L. Jaqua, USAF (Ret.) age 74, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1968, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Memorial Hospital. He served his country for 26 years in the United States Army and Air Force. Eugene Lyle Jaqua was born on May 29, 1935 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Albert Broadwell and Gladys Neva (Hovland) Jaqua. He attended Washington High School and enlisted in the Army. He served as an Electronics Computer Systems Technician in his later assignments. He completed an Associate in Applied Science Degree from Community College of the Air Force. Eugene married Diane Kathleen Towns on May 25, 1959 in Sioux Falls. Diane passed away in 2006. He was a member of St. Dominic's Parish and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed electronics, NASCAR, air shows, artistic welding of sculptures and home projects. He is survived by his children: Kevin (wife, Carol) Jaqua of Tyndall AFB, Florida; Mary (husband, Wes) Montoya, Mark Jaqua, Brian Jaqua and Elisabeth Jaqua, all of Colorado Springs, and a brother, Lee Jaqua of Sioux Falls. He had six grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother and one sister. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 from 5:00 - 7:30 pm at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A rosary will follow the visitation at 7:30 pm in the Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, 301 S. Main Street, Security, Colorado 80911. Graveside Services with Air Force Honors are scheduled for 11:30 am on Thursday at Fairview Cemetery in Fountain, Colorado. A luncheon reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall at St. Dominic's Church. Memorials may be made to the St. Dominic's Building Fund in care of the church. We love you and will miss you.
