Eugene Pankau Obituary

Eugene Allen "Gene" Pankau, age 67, a Colorado Springs resident most of his life, passed away on November 30, 2006 in Colorado Springs. Gene was born on October 13, 1939 in Burr Oak, Kansas, one of eight children of the late Thomas F. and Lulu Johnson Pankau. His father was a carpenter and farmer; his mother a homemaker. His parents instilled a strong Catholic background in their children. Gene was a 1958 graduate of Palmer High School. Following high school he went on to Colorado College on a football scholarship. Gene had a successful career as a bank executive in both Colorado and California. He is survived by his son, Jon (Stephanie) Pankau of Colorado Springs; his daughter, Kara Pankau of Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers: Leo Pankau of Boise, Idaho, Ed Pankau of Tucson, Arizona; sisters: MaryLou Kissinger, Aurora, Colorado, Janice Casias of Colorado Springs, Carole Threlkel of Tucson, Arizona; and grandson, Zachary Pankau. Gene was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Pankau; two sisters: Eleanor Hannasch and ThreseAnn Merrill. Gene's family was always important to him and he loved them. Private family memorial services will be held at a later date.
