Eunice Jones Obituary

Eunice Jones was born in Gove County, Kansas, on November 1, 1920, to Edna Beougher Runyon and Orda Runyon, and passed away in Colorado Springs on January 5, 2015.

Eunice moved to Denver, Colorado, in 1940, where she met and married Warren Hageman Jones. Warren H. passed away in 1953 and Eunice became a single parent who went on to raise four children on her own. She went to work for the United States Air Force, eventually working for the newly created Air Force Academy, which resulted in the family moving to Colorado Springs in 1959. She worked for the Academy until her retirement in 1982. Upon retiring, Eunice became a volunteer for many organizations, including the First Baptist Church, where she has been a member for 55 years. She enjoyed being in the visitation ministry, as well as sitting on various boards. She especially enjoyed the fellowship of the Sew & Sew Group.

Eunice was very much admired and respected for her caring and pragmatic approach to life and situations. Friends of her children thought she was a very special person and would often come over just to "hang out" with her because they always felt safe and welcome. Her fellow workers enjoyed her easy going manner and kindness and her commendations evidence her abilities that made her a favored co-worker. She had a wonderful sense of humor which brought forth many perfect one line retorts.

Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Warren H., her son, Michael, her daughter, Sharon, and six of her siblings. Eunice is survived by her brother, Francis Runyon, of Smith Center, Kansas, her son, Warren L. Jones of Rapid City, SD, and her daughter, Marilyn Jones, of Colorado Springs; her grandchildren: Greg, Cheryl and Cindy; and John and Michael; and their children: Jacob and Jordan; Sarah, Amanda and Carrie; Anthony and Jennifer; and Gabrielle; her great-grandchildren: Deven, Elijah, Evelyn, and one on the way.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Swan Law Funeral Directors from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at the First Baptist Church, 317 East Kiowa, Colorado Springs, CO 80903, with reception to follow at the church. Eunice's interment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 11th at Fairmont Cemetery, located at the corner of Alameda and Quebec in Aurora, CO.

There is no words that will explain grandma Eunice. She was one on her own. She would look you in the eyes and tell you, I get it. Grandma, we will always love you, and you were always there when we needed a understanding ear. From the Pacheco family "We love you grandma".
