EVELYN OLETTA (MYERS ) KINNEY
December 27, 1931 April 20, 2021
Evelyn Kinney, 89, passed away on March 20, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Las Animas, Colorado to Earl & Clara Myers, and grew up helping on the family farm working in the fields of cantaloupes, honeydews, watermelons, etc.
Following graduation from Bent County High School in 1949, she moved to Colorado Springs to attend Blair Business College where she met the love of her life, Leland Kinney. They were married in 1951, and celebrated 65 years of marriage. They were both active members of Central Christian Church for 56 years where Evelyn taught the 4's and 5's Bible School Class for 20 years, and was the church secretary for 11 years before retiring in 1981.
She enjoyed decorating, flower arranging, singing, and entertaining, but her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by her two children Michael Kinney of Colorado Springs and Cassandra Kaanana of Brixey, MO; two grandchildren, Josh Kinney (Tayler) and Michelle Kinney Koca (Corey); three great grandchildren, Cray and Nash Koca, Grayson Kinney.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Leland; three brothers, Donald Ray, Earl La Velle, and Homer LeRoy; four sisters, Elsie Faucett, LaVina Lowe, Lela Komatz, and Erma Hopkins.
