Evelyn Netter Obituary

Evelyn Louise "Lou" Netter, 82, passed away July 12, 2005 at a local hospital. Lou was born June 1, 1923 in Dexter, Iowa to the late Earl L. and Grace L. (Percy) Hill. She had been an area resident from 1950 to 1965 and from 1974 to the present. On June 1, 1962 Lou married her beloved husband Sylvester "Syl" Netter who preceded her in death. Her daughter-in-law Karen Netter also preceded her in death. Lou is survived by her son, Wayne Netter and his stepson, Shane; brother, Royce Hill (Dorothy); sister, Lois Nesselhauf (Wally); nephews: Mike Hill, Ron Hill, Ed Nesselhauf; and nieces: Cindy (Nesselhauf) Sommerville and Kathy Hill. Her cousins and their families as well as many friends also survive her. There was always a spot in Lou's heart for her younger brother, Herbie, who died in a tragic farm accident in 1934 at the age of 9. Affectionately nicknamed "Ol' Gal", Lou was a "people person" who never met a stranger. She had owned and operated several restaurants in the area in the 1950's and 60's including Mac's Lunch on Tejon, Lou's Diner on Nevada, and Mac's Truck Stop on Fillmore. She became a housewife and mother after the birth of her son in 1964. She returned to the workforce in 1979 as a Kitchen Assistant for Widefield School District 3 at Sproul Jr. High. She transferred to Watson Jr. High in 1980 and worked there until her retirement in 1993 at age 70. She came out of retirement to volunteer as a receptionist/greeter at REACTion Chassis, a racecar shop owned by her son and nephew Ed. She truly enjoyed talking with the customers and made many friends. Lou enjoyed attending races at I-25 Speedway, traveling, gardening, playing cards, crossword puzzles, dominoes, garage sales, auctions, and good old-fashioned conversation with family and friends. She had been a regular on Monday Game Day at the Fountain Valley Senior Center until her recent illness. She always kept busy and lived life to its fullest. Her passing will leave an empty spot in the lives of many. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2005 at 10.30 a.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 East Fountain Blvd. A viewing will precede the service at 9.30 a.m. Entombment will also be at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum. The family would like to extend it's gratitude for all of the thoughts, prayers, and hospital visits Lou received during her brief illness; as well as a special thanks to all of the caregivers who made her comfortable when she needed it the most.

I will miss Lou deeply. She and Lois were there for me at a very low time in my life. God bless her and her loved ones.
