Fannie Pedraza Obituary

Fannie Pedraza, age 87 and resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on January 3, 2014. Fannie was a spirited and unique individual and will be remembered as a beloved mother, generous and loving abuela (grandmother), affectionate sister, doting aunt, and a loyal friend. Fannie had the ability to make us all laugh and when we think of her (and we will), it will be with the joy of knowing she is now dancing and laughing.

Fannie was born in Harrison, New Jersey to Francisco Ortiz and Rose Lajara Ortiz, who had moved to the East Coast from Puerto Rico. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Peter Pedraza), as well as brothers and sisters.

She is survived by three sons and their families: Manuel (wife Mittie) who reside in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Pete (wife Norma) who reside in Sun Valley, California, and Frank (wife Edna) who reside in Jacksonville, Florida. Fannie's love will be remembered by her 5 grandchildren; Paul Pedraza, Rachel (Pedraza) Dewey, Pilar Pedraza-Berns, Connie (Pedraza) Rimas, and Lisa Pedraza and her 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Frank Ortiz, who resides in North Carolina and one sister, Virginia Bakas, who resides in Florida. There are several nieces and nephews who mourn her loss and cherish the relationship they had with her.

A memorial service will be held on the East Coast and Fannie's ashes will be disbursed in accordance with her wishes. A celebration of life service will be held in Colorado Springs in June, 2014.
