Fay Turner Obituary

Fay Birdsong Turner, age 85, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1969 passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2007 in Colorado Springs. She was an Army wife and homemaker. Fay was born on November 8, 1921 in Belle, Missouri to Jess and Edith (Wallace) Birdsong. She was a graduate of the University of Missouri and in her early years was one of the first women newspaper reporters and editors in the country. She married the late Col. David D. Turner, US Army (Ret.) on February 26, 1946 in Belle. Col. Turner passed away in 1999. She is survived by her daughters: Susan Turner (husband, David L.) Fulk of Antioch, California; and Jan Turner (husband, Larry) Strand of Arvada, Colorado. She also had four grandchildren: David and Steven Fulk and Rachel and Lauren Strand. Also surviving is her sister: Doris (husband, Terry) Abel of Belle, Missouri. Fay was preceded in death by her brother: Glen Birdsong. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses. Private inurnment will take place at the Shrine of Remembrance Chapel Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation, 825 E.
