FELIX PADILLA Obituary

Surrounded by love, Felix Padilla (Phil), age 82, passed away Sunday morning October 12, 2008. Felix was born November 5, 1925. He served our country from 1943 through 1969. In the army Felix was part of the Special Forces out of Ft. Bragg, NC. His battalion was one of the first of its kind. As a Green Beret, he served in WWII, The Korean War and had three tours in Vietnam. Felix received numerous medals of Honor, a few of which included the Silver Star, Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was a life time member of both TREA and the VFW (3917). He retired in Widefield, Colorado. Felix enjoyed life. He loved women, country music, fishing, line dancing and golf. His favorite meal at a restaurant was breakfast, where he still arrived early! Felix grew up in the San Louis region of Colorado. He had five loving sisters, Belinda Payne, Flora Velancia, Corinne Navarro (all deceased) and Rebecca Benton (San Louis), Eleva Martinez (Joe) of Pueblo, CO. His brothers were Rupert Padilla and Demetrio Padilla, both deceased. Felix is survived by his son Robert Padilla; three stepsons, Wayne, Donovan and Robert Brock and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Brock Padilla, his son, Gilbert Padilla, daughter, Patty Padilla. Also surviving is his former wife, Una Lee Padilla and his best friend, Shirley Wilson. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at 930 S. Hancock (at the corner of Fountain and Hancock). A Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. His memorial mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Holy Family Church, 331 Main Street, Security, CO. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. A reception will follow at Knights of Columbus next to the church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Mountain Valley Senior Center, Fountain, Co.
