Fermin Velasquez Obituary
He graduated from Centennial High School, San Luis, Colorado in 1961. After graduation, he moved with his young wife to Colorado Springs to start his family. He worked printing law books at Shepards Citations - McGraw Hill for 35 years before retiring in 2005.
Fermin loved music and was an accomplished musician. He headed a popular band in high school, and had a natural talent for guitar, piano, and singing. Later in life he enjoyed bringing his gift of music to churches, nursing homes, and many charitable functions and events.
He was a kind and gentle soul, always sharing a smile or a laugh with everyone he met. His sense of humor, faith in God, and love for life were a testament to his great character and he will be sorely missed by many.
Fermin is survived by his devoted wife AnnaMarie Velasquez (Jaquez), son Duane E. (Deborah) Velasquez, daughter Susan M. (Jonie) Velasquez, grandchildren Amy and Alex Velasquez, brother Joe of Pueblo, Colorado; brother Alfonso of Omaha, Nebraska; sister Annie of San Francisco, California; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends.
Rosary and visitation will take place Friday, February 10, 2017, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. Catholic funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 N. Carefree Circle, Colorado Springs. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs.
