Fernando Cota Obituary

His signature "Smile" was known to all who knew him. Fernando went to be with our Lord "Jesus" at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2009. Fernando was attending a computer tech school in California. In the early hours of Feb. 14, 2009, he was struck by a car in Venice Beach, CA, while riding his skateboard. A service in Venice Beach, CA (at the beach) took place on March 6th, 2009. He is survived by his parents, Sharon Cota (Maldonado) and Fernando "Fred" (stepmother, Tammy; two half sisters and one half brother) Cota, Sr.; his grandfather, Eloy J. Maldonado (Hall of Fame Boxer and Artist); aunts, Betty Mayen-Franco and Diane Maldonado; uncle, Tony Maldonado; cousins, Raquel, Rhonda, Eddie, Ernie, Mario and Marlo; aunts, Trini & Connie Cota, uncle, Kino Cota and several other cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary E. Martinez; aunt, Dusty Mathews; uncle, Ronnie Maldonado and other grandparents, great grandparents and cousins. We want to thank all the family and friends here in Colorado and California that extended their condolences to the parents of Fernando.
