Fernando Machado Obituary

Fernando Machado, age 59, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016 after a sudden cardiac arrest. He was currently working a Satellite Communications contract position in Germany.

Fred was born on May 5, 1957 in Horta Faial, Azores, Portugal to Joao and Madalena Machado. He was raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

He transferred to Colorado Springs with Digital Equipment in 1978. After 20 years with Digital, he worked for Stanford Telecom and ITT/Exelis in the Satellite Communications field. His career was more than a job, he loved what he did, the people he worked with and the places he traveled to. Life was his adventure.

Fred had a passion for many things: soccer, softball, bowling, golf, hunting, etc.

Always a project going: carvings, photography, rock collecting and keeping an eye out for 4 leaf clovers with a smile on his face. His biggest passion was his family, friends and his dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Milner, of Colorado Springs. His Children: Michelle Schultz, Brandon Milner, and Cambria Devoy. His father, Joao Machado and three brothers (Jack) Machado, Mario Machado and George Machado, in Florida. His sister, Rosamaria Machado in Washington. Also, survived by 6 grandsons and numerous family and friends all over the globe.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at The Academy Hotel from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., on April 28, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers or donations, Fred would have asked you to spread love and happiness to those around you, in his honor. Take someone a meal or flowers instead...be kind to everyone. Buy a coworker a beverage. Just because!

It's been a year Fred! So many good memories, so many fun times. Still think about all those fu.n Sundays when you, Connie, Mickie, Reena, Mikey, and I would go to the flea market. Laying on the blanket and watching fireworks and listening to to symphony at Memorial Park. Love you Fred, tell Connie hey and give her a hug for me.

Dear Fred,
Thank you for being my soccer teammate for 7 years, I'm sure you remembered Teams Teton (Dutch at DEC was team manager) and Green Hornets (Bunch of foreigners player included Vietnamese and Portugal...German, Austrian...) Shared green beers after the games was unforgettable memories...Of coursed! Hacky sacking at CXO2 patios during lunch and break times. We talked and laughed together in CXO1 cafeteria the day after soccer game during soccer seasons. I'm so thankful that you've shared part of your life with me during those fun years together. I knew for sure that we both had one thing in common is "We both LOVED SOCCER". THANK YOU! RIP FRED! Thua Dai Digital Equipment Corp. badge# 141225
