She volunteered for over 40 years with the Penrose Hospital Auxiliary, serving a term as President and most recently working in the gift shop. Florence was a wonderful homemaker, photographer , traveler and good friend to many. She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness and generosity.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, and son Mark. Florence and I were in St. Jude's Church Circle together for many years. She was a beautiful lady inside and out. The great memories of our Christmas dinner meetings at her home will never be forgotten. She was a wonderful hostess and she went to great lengths to make sure we had a nice evening. I am so sorry I missed the memorial service, I was out of town. Thank you Hesse family for sharing your mother with us.

We saw that Mrs. Hesse had passed and wanted to offer our deepest condolences. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Always a joy to have a conversation with her and
was always so upbeat and so proud of all of her children. She will be missed.

My mother and Florence were great friends. They enjoyed writing and sharing family stories. I had the pleasure of taking my mother, Florence, and Mildred to the bridges of Madison County, Iowa, several years ago. We had a great day seeing the sights in and around Winterset, Iowa. I had not heard of Florence's passing but a letter I wrote to her in July was returned today and I was afraid that perhaps Florence had passed. My sympathy to the family. My mother is very sad to lose such a great friend. Beverly Peterman Schelling and Florence Peterman Atlantic, Iowa
