Florence Spellman Obituary

Florence Arline Spellman, age 95, of Colorado Springs passed away on November 1, 2013, at Mount Saint Francis Nursing Center, surrounded by her family.

Arline was born in Newark, Ohio on Valentine's Day 1918, the oldest child of eight born to Charles and Beatrice (Scott) Speaks.

Arline moved to Pueblo, Colorado in 1958 to be near her family that had settled in the area after WWII. In the early 60's she relocated to Colorado Springs with her family after her husband took a job at the Air Force Academy.

Arline worked several years at Shepards Citations before retiring. She was an active member of The First United Methodist Church and several Masonic orders including: the Order of Amaranth, Pikes Peak Court #20, Order of Eastern

Star, Ruxton Chapter No. 10 and SnowFlake Chapter No. 153. She loved living in Colorado, enjoyed spending time in the garden, and being with her family and friends.

Arline is survived by her children (and their spouses), Thomas Scott Porter (Helga), Gary Porter(Anna) and Jane Fitzgerald (David), along with 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Arline was preceded in death by her parents, a son Arlo James, a daughter Arla Jeannine Curtis, brothers Dana, Don, Fred and Forest, and sisters Marjorie, Mary Jane and Rose Ada.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, 420 N. Nevada Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO at 11am. A viewing will precede the services beginning at 10 am in the sanctuary. A reception will follow the service. Private interment will be at Shrine of

Remembrance, Colorado Springs, CO.

I always loved our visits to Colorado to see you and looked forward to you coming back home to visit us! I love and miss you Grandma, my valentine Grandma. To Uncle Tommy, Uncle Gary, Aunt Janie and all the family, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
