Dear Sister Flinn and family,
I was extremely saddened when Trudy and Jarom told me about Floyd's passing. My family and I express our deepest sympathy over your loss and the world's loss as well. Floyd and I had many great times together and I will always cherish the times, almost every Sunday before Sacrament meeting, when Floyd would come up to the pew where my family was sitting and tell me about some facts he had found about an ancestor or we would discuss something happening in the world. I loved his laugh. He was my audience and would laugh at my poor attempts to be a comedian. I told my son Troy, who is in Bahgdad at this time about Floyd's passing. Here's what he remembers about Brother Flinn.
"He helped me out a lot with scouts and I loved going to his house and hearing his stories and helping him around the house. I wish I could be there to pay my respects." Troy Ruby
I too regret that I am not able to be there at this time. However, I feel confident that the Holy Ghost will be there for you and your family to comfort you all during this diffcult time. If you need something just call the Ruby house. (Sincerely, Your Brother in the Gospel, James Ruby, Camp Phoenix, Kabul, Afghanistan)

My condolences to the family. I remember visiting with Floyd and his mother Velda Flinn. I remember his beaming smile and the love he showed to his family.

I didn't know my Great Uncle Floyd personally, but I spoke with him several times over the phone the past couple of years. We were both had a passion for our family genealogy. The photos he sent me brought back the life of the few memories I had of my Grandma Viola. Floyd, thank you for sharing those memories with me and bringing me some of the answers about my family that I had been wondering about for such a long time. You were an inspiration.

My prayers are with the family. May Jesus put his loving arms around you and give you comfort and strength. Floyd will surely be missed at the library. He ALWAYs had a wonderful smile beaming on his face. He impressed me so much with his knowledge of history, it was truly incredible!!! It was my GREAT pleasure to have known him and I will miss him and his genealogy. Thank you Floyd for teaching me so much history!!! You were an incredible man!!!
