It has been 4 long years dad since you left this world to join Jesus in heaven. I miss you as much today as I have every day since that most difficult day. There are so many things that I have wanted to ask you about this and that; yearning for your wisdom. As you know, Dwayne joined you not long ago. Trying to stay strong, but the world is getting a bit tough, but I do so remember how strong you were and I so want to be that way too. Miss you daddy! Love you so much!

Father-In-Law

It's Memorial Day and we all know how important this day was to you. I sure miss you!

In times of despair you safely guided us into the light.
Our strength came from you, our wisdom came from you, our honor came from you.
Dear angel the memories that you left will surely be treasured.
We wait for the moment when the good Lord will reunite us,
until then watch over us from the heavens above.

Tragedy in the sky on D-Day

Floyd Miller remembers D-Day not for the heroes who made it back from battle, but for 20 members of two bomber crews who never made it there.
Miller, a 26-year-old flight engineer with a B-17 crew, knew he would not be participating in just another bombing run from Ipswich, England.
He was awakened at 2 a.m. on the morning of the invasion for a special briefing - six hours earlier than usual. When he climbed into the plane at 4:30 a.m., he noticed 1,000-pound bombs had been suspended under each wing, bombs twice as big as the kind B-17s usually carried.
Once airborne, his crew flew at 8,000 feet, about one-third its usual altitude.
"As we crossed the English Channel and approached the French coast, we saw hundreds and thousands of boats, barges, ships and aircraft beneath us," he said.
Tragedy struck moments later when two B-24s got caught in turbulence generated by the aircraft. One crashed onto the top of the other. "The propellers churned through the cabin and wings of the lower plane, causing it to catch fire," Miller said. "Both of the planes hit the water with such impact they exploded and black smoke billowed upward. I watched and saw no parachutes.
"I saw a lot of tragedy during the war, but that was the worst, knowing that the families of these 20 men would never see them again."
Miller's crew reached its target, the submarine pens at Brest, France, and returned for a second bombing run near St. Lo.

Memorial Day is a day when we celebrate those who fought,
for in the nineteenth century, a Civil War was brought.
For our country, a deed was done
Regrets? We have none.
From those who died or those who survived, our freedom was rightly won.
On Memorial Day, we dont just celebratethose who fought,
For some families, its a day to remember the lovedones they lost.
So just remember every year, on the last Monday in May,
to honor those who battled, and gave us Memorial Day.

Two years ago today, you slipped away
Two years ago today, God gave you a new birthday
You have gone,time has passed
There isn't a day I don't miss you or a day you're not in my thoughts.
Only a whisper away until we meet again someday.
Miss and love you Dad!

Happy Birthday Dad! and Grandpa!
Oh how I miss you!
Robby said we would celebrate your birthday even if you can't be hear with us. He loves and misses you too. We all do!
I remember one year, mom was trying to make your birthday a special one by baking you your favorite cherry cake from scratch. She set it in the window sill to help cool it a bit faster. Oh how she screamed, "Oh dear God," after hearing a commotion and looking up to see the cake was missing from the window sill. She felt so bad, she almost cried. But, like the good wife she was, out came the mixing bowls again to start making a new one.
I know today will be a most glorious day there in heaven with all the angels celebrating your 89th spriritual birthday!
Love you always!

Veterans Day is a special day we set aside to remember all service men that fought to keep the great gift of our free country. And so, many of us remember Floyd Miller as a great combat veteran and reflect with honor upon his courageous service to our country in a time of need. But Floyd was so much more than that; he was a patriot of our country with the highest standards of personal conduct, moral ethics, and Christian principles. He was my friend and fellow Air Force Veteran. Floyd, you have not been forgotten!

A very special and dear holiday is tomorrow; Veterans Day. I know this day meant a lot to you. You and all those that fought in that war were such brave souls. I could have never endured such conditions and respect you so much for being so brave and courageous. I would like to thank all that sever and have served. I can not even imagine living in the hell some countries live every day. We have SO much to be thankful for by living here in the USA!

Does anyone know how I feel?
Does anyone know the pain is real?
One may say;time will heal.
I miss you daddy,
and the tears I cry for you,
are still a great deal.
Will time heal?
Each night I bow and kneel,
asking God to tell you how I miss, love you and really feel.
Not a day goes by that you're not in my heart, though far apart.Although I don't sign the book enough, you're never forgotten; each day I start and at each end of that day,in my prayers and always in my heart.
I love and miss you daddy.

Missing You
No words I write can ever say
How much I miss you every day.
As time goes by, the loneliness grows;
How I miss you, nobody knows!
I think of you in silence,
I often speak your name,
But all I have are memories
And photos in a frame.
No one knows my sorrow,
No one sees me weep,
But the love I have for you
Is in my heart to keep.
I've never stopped loving you
I'm sure I never will;
Deep inside my heart,
You are with me still.
Heartaches in this world are many
But mine is worse than any.
My heart still aches as I whisper low,
"I need you and I miss you so."
The things we feel so deeply
Are often the hardest to say,
But I just can't keep quiet any more,
So I'll tell you anyway.
There is a place in my heart
That no one else can fill;
I love you so, Dad,
And I always will.

I didn't write this poem, but who ever the author was must have had a super dad as well as they have expressed my exact feelings. I really miss you dad. Its hard. How did you do it? Tomorrow is Father's Day and I just wanted to say I love you.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

But, there isn't a day that goes by I don't think of you and miss you. I have really been thinking about how you would handle some situations with my work. I am trying so hard to use the advice you always shared and the morals you taught me, but it is so ever difficult at times. How did you do it?! What Makes a Dad

God took the power of a mountain,

The mighty strength of a tree,

The warmth of a summer day,

The serenity of a quiet sea,

The generous soul of nature,

The comforting calm of the night,

The wisdom of the years,

The power of the eagle's flight,

The freshness of a morning in spring,

The faith of a mustard seed,

The patience for all eternity,

The depth of a family need,

God combined these qualities,

and when there was nothing more to add,

He was finished with my dad.

Happy Father's Day Dad...I love & Miss you.

Well I guess as everyone has said, Floyd was a great family man. He and I spent many hours working on all of his childrens homes as well as his as time would allow. My son Dave (Jaques Husband) learned a lot about Colorado from him and both Dave and I are ever so greatful. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of Red's family for all they do for everyone. We will miss him dearly and want Rosie to know he will always be in our hearts and our prayers. Pat and I look forward to seeing him in our new life also. May God bless and comford all of you.

We were also so glad we could be their to take part in his wake and funeral.

Floyd "Red" Miller was one of several great men that were representative of the Colorado Springs West Side generation of returning war veterans from WWII in 1945/46. He was a highly decorated Air Force veteran that participated in an astounding number of combat missions while flying B-17's. Even more significant was his personal integrity and character as a fellow citizen and steadfast friend. His courage and dedication to principle are lasting examples of the highest standards that every young man should follow. I have lost a great friend, and Colorado Springs has lost one of its truly great citizens. You are no longer with us now Red, but you will be long remembered.

I remember Mr. Miller from when I was growing up. I remember being out in the alley behind his house and him showing my family rattle snakes he had caught. I always thought that was a scary hobby, but he sure seemed to enjoy it. He was a very nice man and he will be greatly missed. My prayers go out to his family.

I met Floyd "Red" Miller when I was pastor of First Southern Baptist Church. A friend and former co-worker, Kermit Gue took me by his house to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with him. Kermit told me that Red was a good man, a hard worker, and a very good friend.

As I shared the simple truth of Jesus' love for him, Red's eyes began to cloud up. When I asked him if he would like to give his life to Jesus, he replied, "Yes, I would." As simple as that, he had made his decision. It was my honor to lead him in a prayer of commitment and baptize him. I know I will see him again when I walk in the glory of Heaven.

Uncle “Sun” I used to call him because he always made me feel like the sun was shining only on me when I would walk into his house! To feel like a princess and his favorite niece, even though I’m sure he made us all feel that way, was a wonderful gift growing up!

I too remember the old gray pickup truck that would take us to the fields and he would bring home delicious vegetables and fruits to the family. I never realized how good a tomato could taste after picking it yourself and eating it like an apple on the tailgate of that ole truck with a salt shaker in one hand!

Through the tears, I’m sending him one of my special smiles today...

"Poor Son" is what Grandma Miller would always say and so that is what we grew up calling our Uncle even though his name was Floyd and his nickname "Red". "Uncle Son" loved to laugh, loved to tease, and loved to tell stories.

I will never forget the twinkle in his eye and his "rough" talk but HUGE heart.

My prayers go out to his family that you may be comforted by a life that was well lived and by the memories that you have of him.

May he rest in God's everlasting arms...we will miss him.

As a young boy, I have fond memories of going pheasant hunting and fishing with my father and Uncle Son. Uncle Son used to LOVE going hunting. He would light up when we came across the game we were hunting for. I particularly remember that old gray pickup he'd drive through the fields in eastern colorado. He got so excited one time that he wasn't paying attention and hit a hay bail in the middle of the field. We teased him a little after that.

The "SilverCliff Hilton," as Uncle Son referred to it, although run down and had resident rodents, was a homey little cabin that he owned for a while. We stopped there on our way to fishing at Lake DeWeese, Hermit Lake, Horseshoe Lake, and the rocky hike to Eureka Lake, all near Westcliff. I can still remember the firecrackers going off in the wood burning stove that had been put there long before. He would laugh each time I'd jump.

Those were good times and my memories will always include my Uncle Son and his love for outdoor sportsmanship. Thanks for sharing some of those memories with me Uncle Son!

Dearest Daddy,

I already miss you so much!

I know you are at peace and you hurt no more. I am thankful for that dad; it was very difficult to see you in pain. Feeling helpless, I could not make the hurt go away, as you did for me, many a time.

You have gone through a lot in your lifetime, both emotionally and physically. You were always so strong and courageous. I learned a lot from these admiral characteristics or yours. I have strived to follow in your footsteps. It is a tall measure to fulfill. I will never give up trying.

My mind is clouded with anxiety and my heart heavy with sorrow.

I am finding it exhausting to think of all I learned from you.

Daddy, you taught me so much; Responsibility, Perseverance, Self-discipline, Respect, Pride, Honesty, Integrity, Fairness, Patriotism and the most vital of all; the significance of a Family bond. Fear not, for we will always be there for mom and for each other, as you were, for us. I will not depart from that which you have taught me.

It is going to be so tough not to have you here. I relied on you for so much. You and mom have always been there for me.

There was never a time; I doubted your love for me.

I know many will say, they have the best dad ever, but I can honestly say; I DID have the best dad ever.

I am already looking forward to seeing you again. Please wait for me at the Pearly Gates.

I love you daddy!

I always will!

Loving you forever!
