It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father, Floyd J. Strauss on June 23, 2022. Dad was born in Hillsdale, MI on September 6, 1928 to Herman Strauss and Velma (Hewitt) Strauss who preceded him in death.
He joined the army in September of 1947 and served during the Korean War. He attained the rank of 1st Sergeant and retired on November 1st, 1970, having served his country for 23 1/2 years.
After his retirement from the U S Army; he joined the El Paso County Sheriff's Office for a brief time, and then went on to serve proudly with the Manitou Springs Police Department, Fountain Police Department, and then back to Manitou Springs Police Department. He was a patrol sergeant and acting chief of police for both departments during his tenure of 20 years.
He married Dona A. Kidder in 1955, until her untimely passing in September of 2002. He later married Mary P. Murphy until her passing in March of 2017. Floyd is survived by two children - Robert (Linda Carlson) Strauss and Linda (Steve Monroe) Strauss Monroe, and four grandchildren - Matthew (Sally) Marshall, Brandon Carlson Strauss, Ashley Witherell, and Alisa Phillips. He is also survived by a brother in law, Marvin (Linda) Kidder and a sister in law, Helen Kidder.
Dad was a loving, kind, and generous father, grandfather, and a mentor to many people. He was very religious and participated in Bible study until his passing. He also was care giver to both wives when they became ill until their passing.
He will be forever loved and missed dearly by all the people he touched.

Oh my goodness, I did not know that Floyd passed. He and Donna were great Neighbors. After he died I spent a lot of time with him and he was so kind. He worked with my dad Roy Padgett in Manitou. I will never forget how kind he was. I'm so sorry for your loss. Rest in peace Floyd I love you! Heaven just gained another angel.

Floyd was a kind, generous, loving man. He was strong, steady and dependable. He always made you feel welcome. Floyd made my mother, Mary, laugh and enjoy life. His thoughtfulness and love will always be remembered. Thank
you dear Floyd, you will be missed.
