Frances Green Obituary
Fran was born in Danville, Illinois to immigrants Max Walders (France) and Rebecca Walders (Russia). She was one of seven children.
Fran grew up in Chicago and in 1933 moved to Southern California. When she moved there, she worked hard to support her mother. Some of her favorite memories were working at Paramount Studios and working with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. In the summer of 1948 she met a handsome man, Marvin Green, and just a few months later, on December 19th they were married. Fran was very proud of her over 66 years of marriage, as the day they were married was the happiest day of her life. She loved being a wife and mother and was an outstanding cook and homemaker.
In 1980 they moved to Clearlake, California to be close to Kathy and her family. While there she enjoyed being Grandma and volunteering with the Lake County Sheriff's Department.
Not ones to let the dust settle, they moved to Colorado Springs in 1993 to be close to Gary and his family. They volunteered with the CSPD Senior Victims Assistance Team (SVAT) and the Police Training Academy. When they were not working with the police department, they spent their time working with Sertoma and volunteering with Antelope Trails Elementary School.
Fran was an intelligent, generous, witty and spirited woman. Full of love, faith and compassion, she never missed an opportunity to bless her family and friends. Fran had a love of animals and never met a stray cat for which she didn't care.
Fran is survived by her husband, Marvin; her children, Gary Green and his wife Cathy, and Kathy Swatosh; grandchildren, Amber and her husband Jeff Ingram, Cara and her husband Jon Moore, Christopher and his wife Lauren Swatosh, Travis Swatosh and Chase Swatosh. Four great grandchildren: Caleb and Aubrey Ingram and Camry and Kaiden Moore. Several nieces and nephews also survive her; she was especially close to her two nieces, Elizabeth and Marath.
Fran gave more to the world than she received. Her life was characterized by her joy and generosity in giving to others freely and evidenced by the many charities she donated to each month. Fran was well loved in return and will be sorely missed by her family and friends. The world has lost a great one and Heaven has gained one.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday April 21 at 11 AM at First United Methodist Church (Chapel), 420 North Nevada Avenue.
