Francis Donnell Obituary

Francis "Frank" Donnell was born in Glendale, Long Island, NY on January 25, 1916. On August 22, 1938 he married Mary Koutzaroff. They had two children: Peter and Kerry. After 26 years of active duty in the US Army, Frank and Mary "retired" to Clearwater, Florida where he became town manager of Belleair, Florida. After many enjoyable years in Clearwater, Mary's arthritis prompted them to move to Scottsdale, Arizona. During this time Frank was proud to serve as the Commander-in-Chief of The Military Order of the World Wars. They eventually decided to settle in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mary passed away in 1998 after 60 wonderful years of marriage. A few years later Frank had the good fortune to meet Harriett Leherissey, with whom he enjoyed many happy years. Frank was optimistic and enjoyed an independent life until he passed away at age 95. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kerry and Russell Anderson. A Catholic committal service with military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Francis S. Donnell's memory to Hillsdale College, 33 East College Street, Hillsdale, MI 49242.

Frank and Mary Donnell were long time friends and supporters of mine since we first met during my campaign, in 1972, for a Circuit Judgeship in Pinellas-Pasco counties. I was elected to the Sixth Judicial Circuit of the State of Florida because they believed in me and devoted their time, love and efforts on my behalf. I shall be forever grateful to both of them. They are in my prayers. May God bless both of them.

Respectfully and Faithfully,

Elizabeth A. Kovachevich
United States District Judge
