Francis Moore Obituary

Red Moore, 77, died peacefully on April 6, 2017 with family and friends at his bedside.

Red was born to Charles and Mary Moore in Bebee, West Virginia on October 9, 1939, where he lived until joining the Army on February 17, 1959, proudly serving his country for twenty years and receiving the following awards: Good Conduct Medal 6th Award, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, VCOFGWP Award, Meritorious Service Medal, and Expert M-16.

Red met and married the love of his life, Anita, in Colorado Springs on May 3, 1969.

Upon retirement in May 1979, Red and his family settled south of Colorado Springs. He started a thriving business that continues today. Red and Anita traveled the U.S. for seventeen years with the business until settling down with two shops at Fort Carson and an internet business (Flagsoftheworld.com).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Marie; brother, Harvey Moore; and grandson, Joseph Swafford.

He is survived by his wife, Anita; son, Richard Swafford and wife, Stephanie of Colorado Springs; son, Patrick Faulkner of Charles City, Virginia; daughter, Elizabeth Scherbring and husband, Mark of Dyersville, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren, James, Amanda, Nicole, Jessica, Mathew, Samantha, Courtney, Meagan, Keara, Tony, Ryan, Mike and Desiree; four great-grandchildren; cousin and caregiver, Angie Bennett; and Operations Manager, Eva Sawyer.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor and wonderful smile. He was loyal to a fault, with a passion for life, but most importantly, he will be remembered for his ethics, bonfires, and beer.

Celebration of his Life, Sunday, April 9, 2017 starting at noon at the family home.

Visitation, 4:00PM-8:00PM, Monday, April 10, 2017 at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.

Funeral Service, 3:00PM, Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the Soldiers' Memorial Chapel, 6333 Martinez Street, Building 1500, Fort Carson, Colorado 80913 with full military honors.

Private interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to the Shriners Hospital in Utah.
