Retired Lieutenant Colonel Francis (Frank) V. Wilson age 92, a Colorado Springs, Colorado resident since 1975, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023. He was born on October 30, 1930 in Summit Point, West Virginia to Stanley B. and Mary Susan Wilson, both deceased.
Frank graduated from Page-Jackson High School in Charles Town, West Virginia. He attended West Virginia State University earning a Bachelor's Degree of Science and a Commission in the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant through ROTC. Later, he earned a Master's Degree in Public Administration at the University of Colorado.
He proudly served his country for 22 years in the United States Army and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During his military career, he was assigned to duty to several military institutions in the Continental USA, two tours in the far East and two tours in Europe. Frank received much success in life, he received many distinguished awards from the military and his community for his outstanding service to both.
Frank was a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Scabbard and Blades, Page-Jackson Alumni Association, CSHS-Palmer Alumni Association, Negro Historical Association of Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum Association and The Colorado Natives Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Roberta R. Colbert Wilson; son, Major Frank ( Rosemary Ochoa) Wilson, Sr.; grandson, Frank Van, Jr. and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
The visitation will be held on January 19, 2023 at 10:00 am at Angelus Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory located at 1104 S. Circle Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. The service will be held on January 19, 2023 at 11:00 am at Angelus Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory. The interment will be held on January 19, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Pikes Peak National Cemetery located at 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925.
