Frank Fatora Obituary

Frank Charles Fatora, Jr., age 84, passed away on March 2, 2009. He was born March 31, 1924 in Derry, Pennsylvania to Frank and Anna (Nalepa) Fatora, Sr. Frank graduated from St. Vincent College, Latrobe, Pennsylvania with a BS cum laude in Chemistry. He later graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a PhD in Organic Chemistry. He served in the Army from 1944 to 1946 where he studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Maine and worked as a radio repairman testing V2 rockets in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was a member of the American Society of Chemistry and the American Institute of Chemists. He worked as a chemist at American Cyanamid for 35 years. Frank retired in Colorado Springs in 1992. He enjoyed traveling and his grandchildren. He was a charter member of the Mount St. Francis Knights of Columbus Chapter 12228. He was a member of the Argonauts, Candlelighters and the Pikes Peak Bridgers. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack and his sister Annette. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Agnes. He is also survived by six children: Frank (Diane) Fatora, III of Houston, Texas; Mary (Sam) Tumbaga of Kekaha, Kauai, Hawaii; Thomas (Louanne) Fatora of Silverthorne, Colorado; Paul (Carol Ann) Fatora of Woodridge, Illinois; Carl (Gina-Marie) Fatora of Elmhurst, Illinois; and John (Julie) Fatora of Countryside, Illinois. He is also survived by thirteen grandchilden: Matthew Fatora; Christopher and Morgan Fatora; Thaddeus, Teresa and Tiffani Tumbaga; Luke, Aaron and Sean Fatora; Gabrielle Fatora and John, Amy and Kevin Fatora. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 with a Rosary to follow at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, located at 2650 Parish View Drive, Colorado Springs. Memorials may be made in Frank's memory to the Knights of Columbus Chapter 12228, 2650 Parish View Drive, Colorado Springs 80919.
