Frank Fehn Obituary

Frank P.Fehn, former Sheriff of Teller County, passed away peacefully at home on April 23, 2013. Services will be held at 10:00am, Monday, May 20 at Holy Rosary Chapel in Cascade, CO. He will be interned at Fort Logan National Cemetery with military honors at 2:15 pm in Denver, CO. Frank was retired and currently lived in Lake Havasu City, AZ with his wife of 27 years, Lucile. He was born October 25,1928 to John Fehn and Ada Catanach in New Rochelle, NY. He was married to Madeline Ward who died in 1984. They had two daughters, Mary Patrice and Joanne Frances. He now has two step-sons, Timothy Wade VanPelt and Randal Thomas VanPelt Hessong. He served in the Army Air Corp from 1945 til 1947 and was called back to duty in 1950 for a short time. After working for AT&T until 1957, he joined the Nassau County Police Department in NewYork. Before retiring in 1977 he had become a Homicide Detective. In 1984 Frank moved to Woodland Park, CO. His wife, Madeline, died shortly thereafter. Frank became the Teller County Coroner starting in 1989. He became the Teller County Sheriff in 1997. During his term as Sheriff, he masterminded the capture of the infamous "Texas 7" in 2001. Later in 2002 the Hayman Fire broke out keeping Frank busy again. In 2003 Frank retired from the Sheriff position. In 2009, due to health reasons, he and his wife, Lucile, moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ.
