Frank Rodriguez Obituary

Frank, Bob, Sonny Boy, Colonel Rod, Dad, Grandpa-all names he answered in to and all these respective endeavors this man fulfilled his role so very well. He was a loving, Sonny Boy to his parents, Rose and Fortunato Rodriguez. Friendships begun growing up in the Bronx are still in place today. Those good friends, as well as family, knew him as Bob. Bob and wife, Alice, started their own family in 1956, and shared 52 years together until Alice's passing in 2009. He earned the title of Dad and Grandpa through his 5 children, their spouses and 12 grandchildren. As an honorable and dutiful military officer, Frank R. Rodriguez served this country from 1942 - 1945, in the US Army, and then from 1950 - 1978, in the US Air Force. Frank believed serving his country was a privilege. He said he had the abilities to do a job that needed to be done, no more, no less, although the many decorations on his uniform said otherwise. Service before self often placed him in harm's way in locations around the world, including the Philippines, Korea and Southeast Asia. Commitment to his country demanded sacrifices to personal goals and time with family. Beyond his own career, he counseled many others on military and public service. Three sons, a son-in-law and brother-in-law are just a few of those in uniform now, thanks to Colonel Rod. And now, Colonel Rod, Dad, Grandpa, Frank, Bob, Sonny Boy---we wish you God speed and congratulations as you take on this last assignment and this well earned, ultimate promotion. 21 December, 5:00 PM Visitation, 6:00 PM Rosary and Memorial: Cappadona Funeral Home 1020 E. Although he retired as a Colonel, he will always be my Capt. Rod. Along with my Miss Alice, I miss them both terribly. They wEre always like my other parents more than "just friends". Valerie, Kenny, Caroline, David, Jimmy, their spouses and children are more like my cousins, than my blood cousins are. I love you all! My thoughts and prayers are with you all. love, Linda (Miss Joan and Mr. Bud, too)

Frank was a valued colleague during our years with the City's Human Resouces Department. He was a friend and mentor. I cherish my memories of him.
