I just saw this about Fran´s. Fran´s his brothers and I grew up in our younger days in Holland and Arizona. I followed them to Dallas and lost track of them in the later years.

I always think of Frans when I am in the copy room...which is very often...because of how often I asked him to help me cut and copy arrangements of music for our students in my first 3 years of teaching. Now, 20 years into teaching, I understand how unreasonable my expectations were at that time, but he supported my dreams without complaining. We often had religious discussions during plan time, and I still think about things he challenged me to think about. I believe those who have died can hear and help us, and I often ask Frans to pray for me, that I will learn to treat others the way he did. I never met Mary, his wife, but I still carry her in my heart...

He was a kind soul, when I walked in down he played a tune to cheer up the room. He told me to join the solo ensemble and I did. I remember talking to him just before the bell rings. When I said goodbye for a year and a half I was so excited to see him in the second half of 8th grade. His music will always be in my memories.
I wish I could have said thank you one more time.

Frans was a good friend of mine in the seventies, and we lost contact. I've been trying to find him for a while. Very sad to find this. We had many interesting conversations and experiences.

I am so unbelievably sad. Did a Google search and found this obituary. Frans and I worked at a quaint Mediterranean restaurant, Cappuccinos, about 1976, in Dallas Texas when I was a 16 year old busboy and he was the premier pianist there. He and I wrote some songs together and at one point after losing touch when he moved to Colorado we reconnected through Facebook and he said that I should send him more lyrics. How I wish I had done that while I still could have marveled at whatever music he would have come up with. Some of my most memorable evenings from that time included listening to Frans and then going to another upscale restaurant called The Enclave where his brother Gene had a trio with Clyde Phillips and Toppy Hill, and he and my sister Karen and I would sit in and add vocal harmonies.
Making music for God now, and while I am thankful to have 2 cd's of his original music and memories of hearing Frans play and sing, I still wish I had one last opportunity to join you in song. What a joyous time. You will be missed. Prayers going out to family and friends.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Albert's passing. My nephew, who works for the school district, told me, because he knew how highly I thought of him. Mr. Albert was always a kind and polite person. I met him through my job at the pharmacy. He was so excited and happy when he met and married his wife! He, also, was always so very passionate about his school kids and the music. I loved when he would come to the store and we would have our quick talks! Such a caring man, who will be greatly missed!

Frans accompanied me during my first three years as a music teacher. He worked hard, but joyfully, adding the extra detail, providing the extra little surprise, insinuating the extra bit of music into the day because he liked to to make others feel good. "Mr. Albert" brought out a side in kids that their teachers couldn't, and the kids loved him for it. I think he never forgot what it felt like to be a kid, and a music student. Frans was moved by beauty and was always ready to share what he found beautiful. Frans was equally always ready to laugh - especially in moments that I found stressful! He always got a kick out of the students. I can see him leaning back in his chair during our planning time and shouting with laughter as he repeated something he had observed during class while I was buried in the music. "From the sublime to the ridiculous," he'd often say to me after the mondkeylike behavior that inevitably seemed to follow a profound musical experience in the junior high music room: and prodound musical experiences weren't as few and far between as they might have been had we had someone different at the piano! Frans liked spicey food, and junk food, and technological gadgets, and South Park, and Obama, and stories about his old professors. Frans was sensitive, and observant, and he reflected...and whatever he received from the world, he gave back in the form of beautiful, beautiful music. I miss you, Frans! Praying for you...and for your family.

Frans was definitely one of a kind. He always had a story and his laugh was infectious. He had such a passion for his music and for sharing that passion with his students whom he adored. You left your mark and you will be missed!

I will miss Frans. We would discuss astronomy topics on a weekly basis and I always looked forward to seeing him play the piano. Frans would always brighten my day and he was one of those rare people who made the world a joyous place. God Bless Frans and his family.
