Fred Moses Obituary

NORTHWOOD – Fred A. Moses, 83, of Northwood and Venice, Fla., died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Concord Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Fred was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Chichester, to parents Alvin Moses and Ingrid Jokinen Moses.

Born and raised in Chichester, he attended the one room schoolhouse on Horse Corner Road.

Fred loved antique cars and was a proud member of the MOAL and PALS Club. He was also a founding member of the Pehaugun Men's Club and past member of the Concord Elks.

He was employed by Concord Gas from 1953 to 1970. In 1958, he, along with Cora and Lee Welcome, opened the In-Land Lobster Pool. In 1964, the new location was opened on Route 106 and he and Estelle operated at that location until 1987.

He enjoyed wintering in Venice, Fla., and leaves behind many friends.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Lorraine Moses, after 27 years of marriage. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Ingrid Davis; his grandson, Angus Moses; and his sister, Violet Brullard.

Members of his family include his loving wife of 37 years, Estelle Moses; his children, Brenda Vintinner and her husband, John, Brent Moses and his wife, Wendy, and Leisa Gagne and her husband, Bob; stepchildren, Jeanne Hebert, Diane Champagne and her husband, Dick, Ed Corriveau and his wife, Linda, Denise Noyes and Rita Poirier and her husband, Mike; two sisters, Anita Chase of Palmer, Alaska, and Pat Foster of Webster; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Monday, July 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 3 Church St. Chapel (the brick building).

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., with burial to follow at Soucook Cemetery on Josiah Bartlett Road in Concord.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to NH Kidney Center, C/O Concord Hospital Trust, 242 Pleasant St., Concord, 03301; or the Carmelite Monastery, 275 Pleasant St., Concord, 03301; or the CRVNA, 30 Pillsbury St., Concord, 03301.

Fred- Thanks for some good childhood memories. Letting me drive the go-cart up and down the swing set, running from your geese and putting rocks up the boxer's dog's noses. Also, those Saturday mornings when you took us kids to Buster Browns for chocolate milk and donuts before Boutwells for our bowling leagues. The best was trying to hang on in that damn gas truck. We had a lot of good times... And thanks to Estelle for taking care of him. Your friend Debbie.
