I am just now learning about this. I have wondered about him over the years. We played a lot of Racquetball together in Augsburg. He was the meanest SOB and most disciplined soldier I ever met. He would get in your face and bring you back to being a soldier. He was 24/7 in the Army. In my 30 years of Army, I never met a Soldier like him. Everyone in the Battalion knew who he was. During the Cold War, we said "if we go to war with Russia, we are taking First Sergeant Fred Stewart. They will get the Hell out of his way" Russians did not have anyone like him. RIP my friend. Thought about you often over the years. You can be proud of Fred Stewart.
