Frederick Meyer Obituary

Frederick Henry Meyer, age 80, a long time resident of Colorado Springs, died with his wife by his side, the morning of November 11, 2014, after a long fight with Parkinson's Disease.

He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Frances Meyer; his brothers, Walt and Marion Smith; his son, Donald Wood and daughter Rebecca Davis.

Fred retired in 1972 after 20 years in the Air Force. He also retired from Air Force Civil Service in 1990, after serving as Logistics Program Manager, among other positions, for Communication gear at Cheyenne Mountain. Since then he worked as a logistician for several local defense contractors.

Since the age of 15 and until just recently Fred was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed taking his wife along on many trips, both local and long distance. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends and keeping family freezers stocked with pronghorn, deer and elk.

Survivors include Sally Meyer, his wife of 43 years; sons Kurt and Eric Meyer; daughters Vicky Meyer, Lisa Hill, Laura Whitaker, Bonnie Wood and their families. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
