G. Blankinship Obituary

I am 41 and he was my pediatrician... He was always trying to make me smile or laugh when I was sick or nervous. R.I.P Doc.

Every day I walked or drove along Avondale. I remember always seeing Dr. Blankinship working in the yard he loved. He was such a part of the neighborhood, I still somehow see him out in that lovely yard. Years have gone by but your family is not forgotten. (Nate & Heather Allen's Mom)

Just saw this. Loved this man. So sad . He was my boys Dr and was I. Delivery room for both of them. They are 22 & 26. Rest In Peace. ❤

The memories keep coming back. The nurse had to give the shot because he didn't want my son not to like him. All good - some sad. Love and prayers for the family.

I am sad to hear of his passing. I was born in 1969 and Dr. Blankenship was the only dr. who didn't give up on me...I was 3 months premature and weighed less than 2 lbs.Nobody had much hope I'd live. I did and I remember running into him the day I had my ultrasound when I was pregnant with my son. Dr. B.is, in a way, responsible for my son being here, too! Glad I will see him in heaven someday.

Dr. Blankinship, what an inspiration!!! A man after God's own heart! I loved his humor.

Our girls, Leslie & Jill Wright, were friends with Sarah, Christina, and Julia at Mitchell High School. Our family would like to offer our condolences to all the family. May God be with you all.

Dr. Blankenship has left a wonderful legacy through his gentle care and concern for children and their health, through his faith and love of family & through his presence in the church... We will miss seeing him in the choir, but know we will see him again one day! Blessings to Barbara. & family!

Dear Blankenship Family, My son Drew & I stayed with Dr. Blankinship & Barbara after Drew's difficult back surgery in 1999. What a blessing they were to our family during this time. My family was saddened to hear of Dr. B's passing. He had such love for his family and his patients. My kids would have kept on going to him into adulthood if they could have. He will be missed by so many. Love to your family!

We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Dr. B was my children's doctor, I also took care of his new born patients in L&D and N B nursery. My son was one of his first patients at 1 year in 1969. He will remain in our hearts as a most caring, wonderful physician and friend.

There could not have been a more caring and personable Pediatrician!! Dr. B was my sons' doctor from infancy to teenagers. They are now in their 30s. To Barbara and family, you have our deepest sympathy.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Blankinship and Barbara Blankinship these past few years. From the first time I met Dr. Blankinship, I knew I was in the presence of a great man. A man who cared for people and children and someone who was kind and loving. The love that Dr. Blankinship and Barbara shared was right out of a romance novel. And the adoration he bestowed on his children is extremely touching. Dr. Blankinship was a an incredible human being and many, many people will remember him with love and respect. I am honored to have known him. My thoughts are with Barbara, their children and their grandchildren.

I am saddened by the loss of such a great man. He was my pediatrician from birth until I left for college at age 18. I refused to see anyone else! He was gracious to keep me as a patient for so long. I remember distinctly that his gentle voice was a comfort to me and his care and attention was genuine.

Dr. B. was so greatly loved by my sons, Eric and Justin Bowers. His caring, compassion and knowledge made for an outstanding man and doctor. I live in Illinois now, and was saddened to read of his passing on the Gazette online. Barbara I remember you so fondly as well. My whole family is saddened by this news. Dr. B was a huge part of our childhood and my sisters and I saw him until we left for college and were 18 years old- we might have been his oldest patients! He will always have a very special place in our hearts. We are thinking of all of you during this difficult time.

What an amazing Godly man, husband, father, and friend. Dr. B was a wondeful friend and mentor for me in the years I lived in Colorado and all the years since. Barbara and family my prayers are with you as you celebrate his life and mourn our loss. He was a wonderful man that will be gretly missed. God bless you.

My sympathy to your family at this time. Dr. Blankinship was the doctor that was on my daughter's case in 1974. As a 1 day old baby she was very sick and he with a team of others helped her to survive. I am thankful God used him in a mighty way! My daughter just turned 40. Wonderful doctor and a caring man! Barbara and family, we are sad to hear of Richards passing. As a member of our neighborhood we were always impressed with his beautiful landscape. We also remember those days several years ago when you were our neighbors on Robidoux Circle. We will keep you in our prayers during these difficult days.

What an amazing privilege for our 22 yr old son, who was a patient of Dr. B, to have the honor of running the sound system at First Pres for the memorial service. Praying for God's peace for the family and friends of a man who lived his life serving his Lord and others.

Dr.B was a true gentleman,and a wonderful pediatrician. His warm sense of humor and calm demeanor gave this new mother a healthy perspective on childhood illness. Our family was deeply blessed to have known him and Barbara as our girls grew up.They are moms now and I wish they could have had Dr.B as their pediatrician. He was truly one of a kind.

Dr B was our sons doctor from when they were born until he retired. I was in tears the last appointment James had before he retired. I knew we would never find anyone as caring as he. I still have the Gazette article "Loving Legacy Dr B says goodbye. From the first time we walked into his office between he and Barbara you always felt that your child was the most important child. God's speed Richard. Our prayers are with your family.

Dr. Blankinship was our doctor for many years. Our 3 boys loved as him as did I. I remember him meeting me at the office in the middle of the night to help one of my children. Was truly a great man!

Dr B was my children's physician from their births until his retirement. He was a kind, wonderful man with the softest voice which always calmed my sick children and their sometimes frantic parents. God Bless Barbara and his family.

Dr. Blankinship was our pediatrician for many years. He gave me much great support and advice--both as a doctor and as a parent. Wonderful man!!!!

I knew Dr. Blankinship from Memorial's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). I was a Unit Clerk but Dr. B always patted me on the back and asked how my day was. He was such a huge part of my life for so many years. He was unforgetable because of his kindness and gentle voice. Never a harsh word was said, ever! Condolences to his family. The kind man will be greatly missed in this Seemingly Harsh World. The world is now devoid of this gentle man but Heaven is Blessed profoundly because they now have a wonderful Angel. Dr. B say hello to my Mom and Dad and pat their back as you patted mine. What a loss to Dr. B's family. The tears will come when you least expect them - believe me, I know, but they will help you heal. Time will not make it better, so don't believe those who say that. HIS NAME IS BILL AND HE IS THE OLDEST SURVIVING BABY BORN IN THE NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT AT MEMORIAL HOSPITAL. HE IS NOW IN THE MEDICAL FIELD THANKS TO THIS WONDERFUL DOCTOR! THANK YOU FOR SHARING HIM WITH MY FAMILY; MAY GOD GIVE YOU PEACE KNOWING THAT YOU WILL ALL BE REUNITED ONE DAY IN OUR GLORIOUS HOME ABOVE.

We are so grateful to have had Dr. B's loving care and medical expertise with our children, Ryan and Hope. We would never have made it through their childhoods without Dr. B and Barbara. What a nice man. He was my 3 kids' dr. and then I got re-acquainted with him & Barbara at the gym. We had many discussions and seldom agreed on anything but we had fun. I am sorry that he died so young. My thoughts are with his family.

He always made time for my hysterical calls when I was sure Mike had some rare disease which in fact Mike never did.
