Gabriele "Gaby" Martinez

With heavy hearts, the Martinez family regrets to announce the passing of Gabriele (Schneider) Martinez, 76. She peacefully passed away on October 9, 2022 with loved ones nearby, joining her late husband in heaven. She was born January 14, 1946 in Karlsruhe, Germany.
Gabriele and Joseph were married December 7, 1963 in Honolulu, Hawaii. After being stationed in different places, they made Colorado Springs their permanent home. She worked in the kitchen at Chamberlin and Otero Elementary Schools for many years, having to retire due to heart failure. This diagnosis didn't stop her, she then went on to get an Associates in Applied Science at Pikes Peak Community College. Gabriele was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Joseph's Church since 1968. In the little bit of time she had to herself she enjoyed family camping trips, crocheting, reading, coloring, jigsaw puzzles, doing the daily crossword puzzle and just spending time with her family and friends. Gabriele was a very special person and has had a lasting effect on many of the people lucky enough to have known her. She was considered by many as a saint of sorts.
Gabriele was preceded in death by her husband, of 55 years, Joseph Martinez; parents, Thomas and Else (Blank) Schneider and sister, Susan (Robert) Vickery; grandchildren Patrick and Kayla Abila.
Gabriele was blessed with a big family that she left behind, which includes her sons, Joseph (Trish), Steve (Lisa), Matthew and Darrel; daughter, Alicia (Leo) Torres; sisters Heidi Marie (Angel) Licerio, Mary (Jim) Jost, and Veronica (Dwane) Maples; brother Thomas (Michelle); 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
There will be a viewing on Monday October 17th from 5-7pm with a Rosary being prayed during the last hour at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. There will be a mass of Cristian burial on Tuesday October 18th at 11am taking place at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She will be buried with Joseph at Pikes Peak National Cemetery on Monday the 24th of October at 12pm.

I just now found Gabby's obituary. RIP Gabby. My condolences to her family. I met Gabby when I worked at Chamberlain School, Alicia you were one of my students in 2nd grade, I was working with Miss Guillory at the time. I also saw Gabby at St. Joseph's Church. I will miss you dear friend. RIP
