Gail Lewis Obituary

Dec 30, 1957 ~ Feb 7, 2008. Gail Clouse Lewis passed away at home in Colorado Springs on February 7, 2008. Gail was born December 30, 1957 in Colorado Springs to Donald E and Janet D Clouse. She is survived by her husband William "Bill" Szolonyinka; children Rachel, Sarah and Matthew Lewis; her mother Janet Clouse; brothers Steven Clouse and Rick Clouse; grandson Britton and a large extended family. Gail graduated from Wasson High School in 1975 and attended college at UCCS, Portland State University and Eastern New Mexico University where she received a degree in English. She worked at Penrose Hospital and St Vincent's Hospital in Portland Oregon as a ward secretary. After completing her college education she became certified as a teacher and taught in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She continued in her passion for teaching in Colorado Springs by tutoring elementary students in reading. Gail courageously faced an auto-immune disease from age 16. She endured several surgeries including a double lung transplant that extended her life for seven years and dialysis for another year. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her tenacious sense of humor, generosity, positive attitude and her beautiful smile. Hers was a life well lived. Her faith was deep. She was one of a kind. A visitation is scheduled from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, February 12th, 2008 at Swan-Law Funeral Director's, 501 N Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs. A Memorial Mass is planned for 3:00 pm Friday, February 15th, 2008 at St Mary's Cathedral, Kiowa and Bijou, Colorado Springs.
