Garry Rush Obituary

Garry Andrew Rush, 49, passed away January 3rd, 2015. He was a longtime resident of Colorado and graduated from Wasson High School in 1984.  Garry was an all-state gymnast in high school, and received a scholarship to Long Beach College in California. His athletic career ended shortly after his 1984 Olympic trials. He continued his education at York College and then finished his degree in Tennessee.

He continued his passion for gymnastics by becoming a  coach and owning his own gymnastics business in Springfield, Missouri and York, Nebraska, where he mentored and taught children in need.  He returned to Colorado in 2001.

Garry was a loving father to his daughters Kelisa and Brienna Rush.  He is survived by his brothers Michael Rush (Janet) and Chad Rush (Erica), his mother Barbara and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Garry loved sharing his beautiful voice, his kind heart, and his faith whenever he could. Garry never met a stranger and was immediately loved by those he met.

He will be sorely missed.

Memorial Service 12:00PM, Saturday, January 10, 2015 at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue.

I am so sorry to hear this news. Gary was my childhood friend. The cherub faced boy across the steet. My heart breaks for his family.

What to say? I would like to say that when I knew Garry he was a very kind and talented teenager! It sounds like he grew up well and helped many. I will never forget him! May his family be forever thankful that he touched so many lives because I know he did!

I new Gary in high school, although a year behind him, he was a truly gifted person. He was easy to talk to, and would often times talk to me, and cheer me up, when I was being picked on. I am so sorry for your loss, and hope that you all can take comfort in the joy and happiness that he brought to so many people, throughout his lifetime. May God bless you, and help you in this time of need.

I happened upon the obituaries looking for another friend and found this one! It has been several years since I saw Garry but will never forget the "awe" I felt when watching him in gymnastics! He was a very kind person and am sure will be greatly missed by many. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family!

I am so sorry to hear about Garry's passing. I went to Jr. High and High School with him and he was such a great guy and an incredible gymnast. Please accept my condolences and know that I'll keep Garry and his family in my thoughts and prayers.
