Gaynell Walker-McDaniels passed away on November 18, 2023, at Mountain View Post Acute in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
She was born in Lanett, Alabama on March 10, 1941, the daughter of the late Zake and Mattie Walker. She graduated from Lanier High School in Lanett, Alabama.
Gaynell accepted Jesus as her Savior when she was 11 years of age at the Greenwood Missionary Baptist Church. This would be life changing encounter that would guide her the balance of her life.
She moved to Steelton, Pennsylvania in 1962 there she met Alfred Lee McDaniels who was stationed at the Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The following year they would be married on August 19, 1963. This union lasted 58 years until his passing in 2021.
This loving couple settled in Fountain, Colorado upon Mac's retirement from the Army. Gaynell continued working in early childhood education until she retired. When her health permitted she attended the St. John's Baptist Church.
As we remember Gaynell, we celebrate a life well-lived, a love well-shared, and a life of kindness that inspired others to understand love in action.

Our loss is heaven“s gain. I knew Gaynelle because she helped take care of my children at Ft. Carson more than 40 years ago. She was so efficient with the babies yet loving and always unruffled by them and their little antics. She was an impressive woman and a beautiful soul with many jewels in her heavenly crown. Rest well, dear Gaynelle. Soaring high above us now, no more to hurt or suffer any way. Truly a child of God with the light of love always shining, I am saddened by her absence in this world but smile knowing she is back to her real home.
