Gene Bowen Obituary

On January 1, 2015, Gene E. Bowen, 80 years young, of Colorado Springs, CO. made his heavenly homecoming. Gene was born in Denver, Colorado to Glen and Madilyn Bowen. Gene was one of four children growing up in rural Colorado.

Gene attended college in South Dakota afterwards returning home to Colorado where he met and married his soul mate of 56 years, Louise Jagger Bowen. Shortly thereafter, Gene began his thirty eight year career with Shell Oil Company. They had three children while living in Denver but Gene's position relocated the family to Houston for 31years. Gene took pride in his work for Shell but took greater pride in his family and his committed service and fellowship to his Lord, Jesus Christ.

While in Houston, Gene and Louise were very active in the local Church of the Nazarene - both becoming leaders in the youth group. Their tireless hard work and dedication to the Lord and his ministry aided many of all ages. Their favorite pastimes included travel and spending time with their family. To the end, Gene's devotion to his family and his faith in his Lord, remained a outstanding example to all.

Gene is survived by: his children Randy (Stacey) Bowen of Bellaire, TX; Cheryl (Cheyne) Bamford of Centenial, CO; Cindy Collins of Colorado Springs, CO; 7 grandchildren; one great-grand child; his brother Alan (Bernette) Bowen; and sister-in-law Mary Lue Bowen-Gaskins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gene was preceded in death and met at the Pearly Gates by: his beloved wife, Louise; by his mother and father, Glen and Madilyn Bowen; his mother and father-in-law, Rehba and Marvin Jagger; and his son-in-law, Don Collins.

Visitation will be held at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Dr. Thursday, January 8, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

A heavenly homecoming service celebrating Gene's life will be held Friday, January 9, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Eastborough Church of the Nazarene, 4123 Pikes Peak Ave., Colorado Springs, CO.

Cindy, Randy, and Cheryl,
Just wanted you to know we are thinking of you and praying for you in the loss of your Father to this world.
He and your mom were great supporters of the ministry at Golden Bell and always an encouragement to me.
I lost my dad this last summer, so I know it's tough to say goodbye.
Blessings on your families as you live out some of your Dad and Mom's legacy,
