Genevieve Perkins Obituary

Genevieve B. Perkins, 82, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs passed away on March 8, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. Genevieve was born July 29, 1925, a daughter of the late Phillip and Ellen Carroll Barrett in Brooklyn, New York. Genevieve was known for her generosity and great sense of humor. She loved to bake, cook and travel. Genevieve was an avid reader, a member of the local writer's guild and several bridge groups. She had been a member of First Presbyterian Church for many years where she was a member of the Christian Heirs and active in Sunday school. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Genevieve is survived by four children Ellen P. (Donald) Fields of Lexington, Tennessee, Thomas P. (Debra) Perkins and Christopher G. (Colleen) Perkins both of Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Anne E. (Tony) Kreger of Lexington, Tennessee; two loving sisters, Theresa Barrett of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Phyllis Bickford of Fort Edward, New York; eight grandchildren, Brigid Butler, Kristine Northrop, Mark, Randy and Leslie Perkins, Rebecca and Rachel Hansen and Brooke Kreger; three great-grandchildren Kate and Libby Northrop and Cora Perkins. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many cherished friends. Memorial services will be at 2:00PM on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church, 219 East Bijou, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church Music Department. Genevieve's family would like to offer a special thank you to Brighton Gardens and Pikes Peak Hospice for the dedicated, professional and caring service given to their mother and grandmother.
