George Vander Beke Obituary

George Vander Beke, 91, was born June 13, 1917 in East Moline, Illinois. He passed away on February 1, 2009, in Colorado Springs. George earned a PhB from Marquette University and a Masters degree from Columbia University. He served in WWII in India and continued his military career in the Air Force Reserves. His professional career included Speech Pathologist, Personnel Officer, and Director of the Western Division for SBA. George volunteered with the American Numismatic Association and various public schools. He loved to travel and was always looking for new adventures. He was a charismatic man with a love for life. He touched the hearts of everyone who met him. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat Vander Beke, his daughters and extended family Lis and Phil Turner, Christine and Buzzy Mann, Beth Cassidy, Maggy Fagan, Valerie and Joe Hector, and Michael and Jeleen Reitz. He had 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The memorial service will be held at the USAF Academy Community Chapel at 10:00 AM., Monday, February 9th. Contributions may be made to the research organization: American Health Assistance Foundation, 22512 Gateway Center Dr., Clarksburg, MD 20871/www.ahaf.org.
