George Yandura Obituary

George J. Yandura May 17, 1925 - September 26, 2007. George J. Yandura of Manitou Springs passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 26, 2007. He was 82 years old. He was born in Joliet, Illinois and married Bernice Garrity in 1946. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1955 and bought the Garden of the Gods Motel in 1961. They operated the motel for 25 years and after retiring George drove tour busses up Pikes Peak and also drove for Silver Key. George and Bernice were active members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the International Dance Club, and Rampart Rangers RV group. George enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an excellent woodworker. His most treasured possession was his family. George is survived by his wife Bernice, his daughter Susanne (Albert), two grandchildren Robert (Stephanie) and Elisa, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson Jeff. Viewing will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 W. Colorado Ave. on Monday, October 1 beginning at 6:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm.
