Gerald Knauss Obituary

Gerald F. Knauss (Gary), 73, US Army, retired (SFC), passed away on June 4, 2016. He was born in Dowling, Ohio to John and Onalee (Steward) Knauss, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his grandmother Pearl M. Knauss who raised him and his siblings, preceded by his youngest daughter, Rose Ann Milligan, two brothers, Larry and Jerry Knauss, of Bowling Green, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Flo, married 45 years, son, Roderick and three daughters, Mary Saunders and Angie Lofton of Tennessee and Barbara Schara of Colorado Springs. Two sisters Linda Domer and Sandra Garno of Bowling Green, Ohio. Many nieces and nephews. Mr. Knauss was a proud Grandpa of 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Knauss honorably retired from the US Army in 1980 after serving 20 years. His tours of duty were Chicago, Alaska, Albuquerque, Viet Nam, Italy and Ft. Carson. Mr. Knauss also retired from Schalage Lock Co., the Army Air Force Exchange Services as an Exchange Detective. Mr. Knauss also worked as a security officer full and part time for over 40 years.

Memorial services will be held 10 AM Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. Hwy 85/87 in Fountain, CO., with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to a local Humane Society.

Flo and family, we are extremely sorry for your loss. Gary was a co-worker and friend for years at Schlage. We were in the same room in the hospital when Sarge got hit by the pickup at work. He was a good man and I'm sure will be missed. Jim Boyd
