MSgt Gerald "Jerry" Francis Light, USAF (Ret.)
June 29th, 1933 - January 9, 2018
Gerald (Jerry) Francis Light , 84, passed away Tuesday January 9, 2018.
Jerry retired as a Master Sergeant, relishing his twenty years spent at the Air Force Academy, where he was a percussionist originating the Air Force Academy Band, in 1955. During his years with the band, he played for presidential inaugurations and other national events. He also performed with the Colorado Springs Symphony Orchestra and at the Broadmoor Hotel. His band "The Jerry Light Trio" played social events at the AFA and throughout Colorado Springs. He was also a master teacher to young local musicians for many years.
Jerry enjoyed sports, especially watching the Falcons, Broncos and Rockies. He was a true gentleman with a unique sense of humor who "never missed a beat"!
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years Donna (Mauff) Light and loving children, Steven (Lorna) Light, Catherine Hannigan, Edward (Lori) Light, Gary (Deborah) Light, James (Shanna) Light as well as nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Graveside Service, 2:30PM, Friday, January 12, 2018 at the United States Air Force Academy Cemetery, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado 80841.
