To The Marx Family
My deepest sympathy to you. Mr. Marx was a great guy. As I reflect, the description "larger than life" comes to mind when I think of Mr. Marx. Although I didn't realize it as a child, he certainly defined this notion for me. My memories of him are all positive so I know that your memories will give you much joy and comfort as you deal with this physical loss. Just as Wriggley chewing gum evokes a visual for me, a look, expression or piece of music will elicit a memory and smile for all of you.

Gerry,

I really enjoyed teaching Elderhostel with you for several years. You were always smiling, friendly, and collaborative. I remember stories about Wrigley's and about Glenn Miller. I was sorry to see you had passed on but I am sure you are entertaining folks somewhere still. My sympathies to the Marx family.

Mr Marx,
Although I never met you, I feel I know you through your children. You may not know it but you have the greatest kids. I have been friends with them for over 35 years and its nice to know that we are still friends. I guess that shows you what good people you raised.
And to Mickey, I'm very sorry for your loss. It's nice to know someone that has been married to the same person for so long. It is a rare and beautiful thing.
And to all the Marx kids, I'm so sorry for your loss and I can only wish I had a father as good as yours.
All my love,
Laina Adams

Gerry was my "almost cousin"...I think! When my husband, Dick & I moved to St. Louis, my uncle Joe told us we had to look up the Marxs. Seems my aunt Ellen, Joe's wife's maiden name was Marx. Uncle Joe & my father were brothers - see the wonderful connection there? We didn't, but did look up Mickey & Gerry & are we glad we did! A great couple! Both have been in our prayers & will continue to be. I'll remember Gerry for his wonderful sense of humor. We all laughed a lot!
