Gerald Yeager Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" Yeager, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, Friend and Public Servant, passed unexpectedly May 25, 2017. Jerry was born in Pontiac, MI, December 14, 1960. He was a long-time resident of Colorado Springs, CO.

He leaves behind his wife, Sandy, and his children, David (Tammy), Jennifer (Mike) Yahner, Steven, Bob (Alyssa), and 7 grandchildren Eliza, Raelyn, Miles, Hazel, Emerson, Owen and Baby Yahner.

Jerry became a police officer January 31, 1983 and dedicated his life to serving and protecting. He was a two time medal of valor recipient. In one of the toughest jobs there is today, the tight knit community within the police society is what held him together through difficult times, personally and those tragic times that he was faced with in the nature of the job. But, we all know he wouldn't trade any of those times for being a part of this unique family unit.

He loved baseball which intertwined with his love of serving the public. Working at the Sky Sox Stadium was his favorite event.

He was passionate about his faith in the Lord and volunteered at the church as much as he could.

He was fortunate to discover long lost family late in life, but that bond quickly grew and soon those long lost years disappeared. It's something that he truly cherished and needed in his life.

Behind that tough exterior, nothing made him a softie and brought him greater joy than his grandchildren and his pugs…..He was an amazing man with a huge heart and he will be greatly missed.

In the days and years to come remember Jerry for his sharp wit, sarcasms and humor. Tell a "Jerryism" when you need a good laugh or two, after all, how could we forget a real "Wisecrack".

Memorial Service 10 am Thursday, June 1, 2017 Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 N. Carefree Cir. Colorado Springs, CO. Celebration of Life will follow hosted at Frankie's Two at 1:00pm

I attended the Colorado Springs Police Academy with Jerry in 1983. He had recently left the U.S. Army before joining the police department. Jerry was one of those guys who was larger than life and who always stood out. I lost contact with Jerry after the police academy, and just recently learned of his passing. I just wanted to send my condolences to Jerry's family and to tell them what they already knew...he was a good and decent man. Rest in peace, Jerry.

Jerry was a great guy. I remember him when I worked at ENT and then seeing him again while working for the courts; he never changed and always had a great sense of humor. My deepest condolences to the family.

Jerry we had many laughs together when we worked together at Ent. You could always make me laugh when you would come into my office and dance around saying "I'm so cool, I gotta wear shades". We had many discussion about our beloved Michigan and our families. I will truly miss you but when I think of you I will always smile. Rest in peace my old friend.
