Geraldine Shiverdecker Obituary

Shiverdecker
Geraldine "Jerry" (Schmidt) Shiverdecker
January 20, 1926
September 17, 2023

After a short illness but a life nearing 98 years, Geraldine passed away. Born the middle child of 5 to Lewis Max Schmidt and Ollie Eikenberry Schmidt, then residing in Union County, Indiana. Although our mother had several jobs, her calling in life was her home. On August 30, 1943, she married Charles Shiverdecker Jr. and moved to Preble County, Ohio, to begin her lifetime of loving wife, mother, loyal sister, and friend. The mother of 4, she was a wily Pinochle player, a willing traveler, and avid crochet crafter. She must have donated hundreds of hats, slippers, bibs, lap blankets, and scarves to Samaritan's Purse and other charities. She inherited her father's sense of humor and tease, her mother's patience with children, and a love for animals. We children remember happy Christmases and other holidays, handmade gifts, trips and move to the West, and giggles at the hair dresser's shop.
Jerry was pre-deceased by her parents, husband, brother Donald, sister Ruth, and son-in-law Kendric Graham. She is survived by her sister Betty Blessing and bother Franklin H. Schnidt, and her 4 children: Beverly (Darrell) Diehl, Barbara Graham, Charles Ray Shiverdecker, and Donald Gene Shiverdecker, five grandchildren, 5 great grands, and many nieces and nephews.
No services are planned, but burial will be in Memorial Gardens. As all her pets were strays or rescues, anyone wishing to remember her may give to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
