Germaine passed away on February 5, 2024, in Southlake, Texas. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all that knew her. She was born on November 10, 1935, in Colorado Springs, CO, to JC and Faye White Martin. Germaine attended Colorado Springs High School where she met her husband, Dwight. They were married on Oct 2, 1953, and enjoyed 68 years together. She raised four children while also working and volunteering.
In Colorado Springs, she worked for a school picture company. As an empty nester in Glenwood Springs, she built her own successful business in the medical billing field. Germaine was a member of the Business and Professional Women's organization, serving a year as president. She was also affiliated with Rotary-Anns, and TOPS. She volunteered at church and other community organizations.
Germaine is survived by her sons Michael Helm (Shirley Williams) of Apollo Beach, FL; Richard Helm (Katrina Ecklund) of Kingston, WA; Martin Helm (Wanda) of Greeley, CO; and daughter Janice Kidd (Jeffrey) of North Richland Hills, TX. She is also survived by her sister, Sandra Harrison of Seattle WA, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. We are grateful we had her in our lives for so long and we were enriched by her strength, joy, love, and peaceful spirit.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Helm, her parents, her brother Carl Martin, and sister Joan Turbush. A memorial service will be held in Colorado Springs, CO at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association, Alzheimer's Association, or any Humane Society of your choice.
