Gilbert Amelio Obituary

Gilbert Neil Amelio, came into this world on December 14, 1924 in Bronx, NY and was tragically taken by a car while walking on September 14, 2006 in Hemet, CA. His four children, Frank Amelio (Karen) of Carlsbad, CA, Susan Doyle (Shannon) of Monument, CO, Glorina Fetherolf of Agoura Hills, CA, and Marissa Emlen (Bill) of Vacaville, CA survive him. His loving and beautiful wife, Beverly, passed away in 1998. He is also survived by his dear, younger sister, Gloria Osbrink of Laguna-Niguel, CA. Gil was the consummate story-teller filling lives with tales of his travels or a simple tale of a drive through the mountains to catch the morning fog before it rose to the sky. He had a very rich life filled by family, friends and his love of reading, writing, painting and sculpting. These interests were his passion, his strength and his pride. His engaging personality etched in the memory of all those who met him. Gil Received his bachelor of Arts Degree after attending USC and Loyola University. He began his law degree at UCLA and completed a degree in law at the University of Detroit in his 15th year of military service in the Air Force. He served in the Air Force for 30 years with a variety of duty stations all over the world including the Air Force Academy. After his military service, Gil was a producer of "It Is Written" for George Vandeman in Newberry Park, The 700 Club for Pat Robertson, and took The Hour of Power (Robert Schuller Ministries) to Sydney, Australia. Gil added to his story by fulfilling a life-long dream of acting and screenplay writing. Gil is also survived by his grandchildren: Mhari Cavan, Shannon Patrick, Heather Nicole, Joseph, Mitchell Gilbert, Torry Madison, Alison Marie, Sarah Nicole, Jimmy Allen, Kristin Marie, Justin Neil, and Jonathan William and greatgrandsons Issac and Peyton. I discovered Mr. Amelio's The Face of Christ on youtube tonight and watched it for the first time in +40 years since seeing it on CBN. What he did on that Maundy Thursday made a lasting impacted on my life as a young teenager and have relived those images in my mind all these years. It made a lasting impression on my spiritual journey and I became a pastor. God bless Brother Gil. I look forward to seeing him in Heaven one day. What he did has impacted millions throughout the years.

It is getting so close to the two-year mark of your passing. I still can't believe you are gone. I still have vivid dreams of you and Mom in which your voice is loud and clear! You would be proud of all your grandchildren! How often they speak of you and Mom. I love you and miss you so much!! We will all be together some day. Love, your Pipsqueak!

Although we've always lived 3000 miles apart, we always had something to talk about at those "Family Reunions". Gilbert, you will be missed, you were the oldest of the grandchildren, as I am the youngest.... this gave us much in common. May your reunion in heaven be joyful.

When I was a small boy, Gil made an impression on me that provided a guiding hand that directly affected some of my life's decisions. Thankfully, his church and graveside services with family and friends revealed that Gil remains among us. In the faces, mannerisms, and words were reflections of the gifts that each has accepted from Gil. In our own, special way, each reflects the man who loved them. When the grief of his recent loss gives way to joy for this man having touched our lives, we will be blessed by the legacy of what he and Bev have given us. Through their wonderful children and grandchildren, I am grateful to know that we are in their good hands forever. Love, Cousin Ken

Dad,
I miss you more than words can convey! I know you are in a better place along with Mom. I never expected you to go to the Lord this way, but it makes me feel better knowing you were out walking which was one of the things you loved to do everyday. I think of you all of the time and dream of you and Mom together at last. I love you and miss you. You are one of the angels watching over my family now and I find peace in that. See you in my dreams tonight. Love, your "pipsqueak," Marisa XXOO
