Gilbert Hector Obituary

Gil, retired from the U.S. Army and a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, died at home on September 14, 2011, with his family by his side. He was courageous in his battle with interstitial lung disease. Gil is loved and will be missed by his family and friends. Gil is survived by his wife, Monika. They were married for 55 years and he says that Monika is the best thing that ever happened to him. He is also survived by his sister, Tala; his children: Annette (Chris) Matthews, Barbara Hector, Patty (Jim) Mason, and Mark Hector; 5 grandchildren: Monika (Zach) Hoffmann, Kellee and Leah Mason, Macon and Ashlyn Hector; and 1 great-grandchild, Kathryn Hoffmann. A memorial service will be held on October 1, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 North Carefree Circle, Colorado Springs, CO. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be sent to National Jewish Health, P.O. Box 17169, Denver, CO, 80217-0169 or Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation, 825 E. Pikes Peak Ave., Colorado Springs, CO, 80903.

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Hector. I will always remember him as a strong good man who stood very tall. You all have my deepest sympathies during this time but take great comfort to know that he is in a much better place and will live forever within all of your hearts.
